Dear BRS Parents,

My name is Iman Aziz Soliman. I am so excited to introduce myself as the new Director of British Ramses School (BRS). Over the past 27 years, I have worked as a teacher, teacher trainer, curriculum designer, educational consultant, and academic administrator. I am honored to have been selected to join the Synod of the Nile team which operates twenty-two schools throughout nine different governorates in Egypt. The Synod of the Nile is known far and wide for its dedication to academic excellence, but more importantly, to raise children on a solid foundation of citizenship, love, and acceptance of diversity.

In this new chapter of my lifelong journey working in the education sector, I consider my most important job at BRS to be that of raising our children and building character through providing fair and safe learning opportunities for every child. The famous pediatric surgeon C. Everett Koop said, “Life affords no greater responsibility, no greater privilege, than the raising of the next generation”. I will spend a lot of time with your children, getting to know their personalities, learning styles and interests. I will celebrate their successes, small and large. I will encourage them every day and let them know they are valued and have a special place in our school community.

Franklin D. Roosevelt once said, “We may not be able to prepare the future for our children, but we can at least prepare our children for the future.” BRS and its community of distinguished teachers are committed to inspire and empower every student to become passionate, confident and life-long learners, with the skills and strength of character to contribute to a diverse and ever-changing world. We encourage our students to appreciate themselves and others as individuals irrespective of race, culture, gender or religion. To this effect, the school is piloting a new school in-service program for the lower-secondary section and International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) that will be announced during orientation. We are also extending a range of in-school-activities to after school thus allowing our students to develop their talents and/or explore new interests.

Not only am I excited to begin working with your children, but I also look forward to the work we will do together through our parents’ council. I also plan on maintaining and sustaining healthy communication channels and an effective parent support system for our school. As the old African proverb states, “It takes a village to raise a child”. That is why this year the school will be also investing in parenting training - for those interested - to better equip our parents with the skills they need to promote the well-being of their children and avoid behavior issues. We also encourage you to become more involved in joining our new “Parents Volunteer initiative”.

Wishing you and your children a successful and inspiring school year!

Iman A. Soliman
BRS School Director
